Title: Sharing a file with Finale user
Post by: SEBC on 2019-06-06 04:49 pm
Hi
I can't remember how to do this. I need to send a file to a Finale user, and maintain the lyrics. I think XML is involved. Is that done within NWC or do I need to find a conversion tool online?

Thanks for you help!

Thanks, that worked fine.

Now, I have been sent a file in .mxl format. I don't seem to be able to import it straight into NWC. Is there a trick?

Direct import is not possible.
For conversion, you might try: https://www.niversoft.com/products/xml2nwc/

N.B. MXL is a packed version of the MusicXML format.
In fact, this kind of file can be obtained by compressing a MusicXML file as a Zip, then renaming the result file from .zip to .mxl
In the same way, the original MusicXML file can be extracted from the .mxl by renaming it to .zip then unpacking it with any utility that supports this format (for instance, the original unzip program).
