Title: Happy Birthday
Post by: Richard Woodroffe on 2019-01-14 05:26 pm
My son saw something like this on Facebook (What's that ? )

Anyway, the version he saw wouldn't work in NoteWorthy  and in fact, probably wasn't quite there anyway.

I kind of liked the idea and so I did a version that does work in NoteWorthy.  Since the Hill's ditty is now out of copyright, I'm sure  it's OK to put it here .

In addition, it gives "newbies" an insight into  Flow Direction, Master repeats, Special endings and Lyrics.

The original version on Facebook had 9 bars. I have reduced this to 7 .
Have fun.

What's the use of this, near the end?

The "Open Section" forces the red highlight for lyrics back up to the first lyrics line (ie resets the repeat counter from what would be 3 back to 1.).

Not a musical need  but sometimes a "Noteworthy" need.

I was very far from thinking something like that!  8)
Thank you, Rich.

Couldn't resist taking it a step further.
Here it is again in just 3 bars (measures).
Somewhat of a cheat -  but nevertheless, just 3
 :))

Wasn't there an article or whatever somewhere that ponders whether musical notation is Turing-complete?

You really tried to hide what you did, didn't you. Why set the Ending Vertical Offsets to 100 when they are also Visibility:Never. Apparently that is just to hide them in the editor. And you set the Instrument Name (with transposition) to a blank space to hide that in the editor. And the attachment is in binary, so it must be opened and then saved as .nwctxt to analyze.
You could probably do the whole thing with a single note by adding tempo changes (assuming NWC supports enough endings).
