Title: Fast forward and wait
Post by: Warren Porter on 2018-06-12 12:45 pm
When using NWC for accompaniment, there are a capella passages (like a cadenza) or the other instrument hasn't come in yet such as Ashokan Farewell before the guitar enters.  Someone else would hit the "Resume" key (or soloist with a foot pedal) when the accompaniment returns.

Has anyone else run into this problem?  Any workarounds?

TIA

One somewhat technical solution that comes to mind would be having a separate "click track" that sends on a MIDI channel which is only heard by the band members (i.e. through in-ear monitors) so they can keep track of the tempo to know when to come in. Of course if there are significant tempo changes, this could still be a challenge.

Another idea similar to the "click track" would be a "blink track", driving some sort of MIDI-controlled flashing light. Same idea, the light flashes would indicate the tempo.
