I’ve been pondering my process for proofreading. It’s not very systematic and it needs to be because I have
Versions of the same score for different ensembles or soloists.
Questions:
What is your step-by-step process for checking all the elements in your scores?
Is there a plug in that could be developed or exists already to somehow aid in the process?
Spell check for lyrics and text objects would be a start!

Here is my cheat sheet, not only for proofreading, but for important things to do while arranging/composing.
Some entries probably need more explanations - just ask if you are interested.
I use two user tools that are mentioned in the cheat sheet:
(a) "Adjust Performance" (actually, "adjust articulation") to replace articulation combinations that sound better with the standard ones used in print; and
(b) ShowRanges to check whether I used too low/high notes.
(The PDF is a quick translation from my German version - so maybe some terms are not accurate).

Since most of my notation is copying out music so I can transpose it, I usually just read the original hardcopy as I listen to playback.
My primary proofing tool is my ears! I play it back and if something doesn't sound right I go hunting :)
