Title: Transpose staff
Post by: AlanB on 2017-10-21 10:05 pm
I play B flat tenor sax.  I play with several guitar players who like the key of E.  I rewrite some of their songs for myself starting with their key of E.  Then I need to transpose the staff up two half-steps to go to F# for the tenor sax.  NoteWorthy always transposes to G flat (six flats) instead of F# (six sharps).  I would much rather have the song in F# instead of G flat.  Is there any way to force the transpose to go to F#?

In the "Transpose Staff" dialog box, at the bottom, there's a section labeled "New Key Signature Preference." Check "Favor sharp keys in ambiguous cases." That should do the job. If that doesn't work, you can change the key signature by hand and then use the "audit enharmonic spelling" tool in the "audit" submenu of the "tools" menu.

Thanks very much William. Your suggestion works perfectly.  I hadn't noticed the selection you pointed out.  Not paying attention I guess.  Thanks again.  Really appreciate your suggestion as it saves me a lot of time.  Cheers.
