Title: showing on the same staff
Post by: Marianne van Harten on 2017-03-06 08:33 pm
In attached file the first two measures should be played by the piano. The next measure is for the choir. In NoteWorthy Composer the piano and the choir are separate staffs, but they should be print as one staff.
How do I have to create the music in Noteworthy Composer to create the same score as the picture? This is my attempt.

Guido

Easy: you can just use a bit more layering.
There is not the limit of just two staves.

Anyway, why don't you simply change the instrument and keep writing in the same staves of the piano?

Flurmy and Rick G., thanks for your reply.

@Flurmy, writing in the same staves is not an easy option. In other parts of these music I need both staves separately.

The staves 1 - 4 are for the choir (SATB), the staves 5 - 8 are for the quartet.
That's why I prefer to use collapsing or hiding printed staffs.
Both of you changed the order of the staves... That gives me troubles for other parts of the music.

Regards,
Guido

You could try using two staves for the alto part, one would be layered with the soprano for the chorale and the other (normally collapsed) would be available for the fugue.  Same for the tenor part.

One thing to remember when collapsing/uncollapsing staves is that the hiding/showing will occur after the next system break. You might need to insert manual system breaks (in the topmost staff) if you don't want to have the extra empty measures visible for a part of a system.
