Title: Placing a rest over existing notes
Post by: PaulM on 1998-10-27 05:00 am
On a stave with two parts, is it possible
to have a rest for part 1 while part 2 plays
e.g.
| | |
| # # | # | part 1
| # |
| _ _
| # # | part 2 with 2 beats rest
| |

Thanks in advance Paul M.

You can treat a rest as a "chord member." Insert the rest first, then you can add notes of longer duration on top of it.

Sometimes, this isn't good enough, for instance if the note and rest are the same length. The workaround is to insert rests as "text" where required, by assigning one of your User fonts as NWCV15.TTF. You can then add rests (lower case r for example) exactly where needed.
