A keyboard command to toggle layering on and off would be very, very useful for creating piano reductions. A button to do this would also be nice.

Yup. I'm glad to read that someone else feels the need to toggle between edit and preview a few gazillion times in a piece. A checkbox to 'Always layer in Preview' would be another welcome addition.

Of course, the whole Print Preview experience has all the charm of a Macintosh with a one button mouse, but I digress...
