Title: How do I keep it from holding notes for too long?
Post by: musicguy on 2005-03-16 06:13 am
I have a section in a song where I tie a sixteenth note at the end of a measure to a dotted half note at the beginning of the next measure. My song is in 4/4 time, yet Noteworthy is holding the dotted half note for about two and a half measures! The part is being written for a hammond organ, but switching the instrument to something like a guitar or an acoustic piano seems to make Noteworthy "see" the note duration correctly. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

What you're hearing is NWC's behaviour when you have an accidental in one bar tied across a bar line.  It's called a hanging note tie.

You have to "accidentalize" the note in the second bar too.

You can always find hanging accidentals by moving to the start of each staff, one at a time, and using find (Ctrl-F) to search for hanging note ties.
