Title: Trill Sound and Trill Print
Post by: Andrew Purdam on 2002-05-03 01:59 am
If you want both the Trill Sound (achieved through manual scoring at this stage), but also a score that prints without the notes, but a TR. above the note:

The only trills that this won't work too well on are those that "borrow time" from the main note, and don't start with that note (e.g. D C B C, as opposed to, say C D C B C). This is because the main note (C in this case, which will be in the original staff) will sound at the same time as the first auxiliary note (D in the first case, and a nice unison C in the second case). This makes much more sense having tried it out.

Editor's Note: The song moonlite.nwc in the NWC Samples folder uses Insert: Text to show the symbol tr~~~ in the Standard Group top staff. The trill sound is then notated in the Hidden Group top staff. Measure 30 is the first place the trill located in the song. The Standard group is for printing (and display). The Hidden Group is for play back. Thus, while playing back the file and displaying the Standard group, it looks as though the tr~~~ is playing back like a trill. To see all of the staves, go to File: Page Setup, Contents and select all the staves. To put staves in different groups like Standard and Hidden, etc. use Staff: Staff Properties, General tab, enter name.
