Title: AWE64 Soundfonts
Post by: Joe Winter on 1997-08-27 04:00 am
There is an option in NoteWorthy that allows me to select a separate user bank for an AWE32/64, but so far I have been unable to get it to work. Are there any special settings either in my soundcard software or on NoteWorthy to get it so that it can play back soundfonts that I have loaded in my user banks?

Have you tried with number 128 for the first bank and 256 for the second bank and so forth....

I don't have an AWE card, but my first question would be "how have you configured the soundfonts"? Do they come in as alternative banks? Is so, how are they numbered? Have you double checked to see that the numbers assigned are the same as those you've assigned in Noteworthy?

Maybe an OBOE (out by one error)?

Don't you hate it when it _should_work_???

Using 128 as the first bank worked. It's annoying how that works, but it worked. Thanks! :)

The soundfont files are included on the setup disk, which comes with the card. The SFBANK folder contains the soundfont files, which are loaded using the AWE Control program. You may want to visit http://www.soundblaster.com to see if any other new soundfont offerings are available.

Hi, i'm an AWE64Gold user and fond of synthesizers moreover.
Do you know a better software than Vienna soundfont editor
to deal with my soundbanks ? Vienna is boring and not as flexible
as I would like . To you know how to get it ?
Would you please indicate me where I could get techno Soundfounts
anywhere on the WEB ???
Thanks for your help

Could somebody help me? I tryied for the first time to load and use Soundblaster soundfonts.Unfortunately the don't sound as I'd need for my productions (drum&bass and Jungle).
I'm actually sequencing using Cubase Vst. Does somebody know if the internal VST plugins effect work on soundfonts too? I've been trying for two days without success.

Hi there
I recently purchased AWE64 Value and find that it works extremely well with Cakewalk Home Studio. Please let me know if there are any sites available on the net where I can download extra soundfonts. I'm looking for some new ones.
Thanks

If you want to use the plug-ins in Cubase VST on a soundfont
you must record the soundfont onto an audio track To do this
record your soundfont midi track then select an audio track
mute all other tracks (except the sound font track) and
record (in real time) on the audio track
you should then be able to use the audio plug ins on the
soundfont sound (which is now in fact an audio track)

Who can tell me where I can download a few soundfonts.
I'm not a awe user , I use the EWS64 XL, so if there are people on this planet who can tell me where to find 94b dream or TTS soundbanks , I would really like to know.

I've just bought an AWE64 Gold. I can handle this soundfont business
but does anyone know how use soundfonts in Cakewalk v6? I hope it is
not as complicated sounding as using SF's in Cubase.

Load your AWE with soundfonts in the appropriate banks.
Run Cakewalk.
Double click on the patch name in the track list.
Select bank and program number in the dialogue that appears.
Be sure to select the AWE Synth in your list of MIDI devices.
OR ( and I would recommend this)
Use the Event List - (right click on the track)
Insert a couple of new events at the start of the track.
Enter Controller 0 then Bank Number.
Follow this with any Program Change.

To change Bank and Patch within the track you need the same two events.

I´ve got one Problem!

When I load User Banks into my AWE 64 RAM, and then assign
a Instrument of one Soundbank in Cubase XT to a track or part
it functions properly until i "rewind" the song to the start.
When I push the PLAY-Button after rewinding, the AWE 64 plays
only the GM-Sounds instead of the ones I assigned before.
Now the best: The Sounds are still assigned to the track/part,
and Cubase will only play them correctly, if I assign all of them
again. The next time I rewind, the story begins from a new.
It doesn´t only happen in Cubase. When I play a .MID file
with the Mediaplayer (or any other Player), that needs Instruments
from a User bank, it only plays correctly for the first time.
Then I have to reload the Player.

Now my Question: why is this, and how can I prevent from it?

I anyone can help: Email me : michael.kaplan@siemens.at

Check in list Edit that ther is not a program change event in the track, for instance at the beginning, and get rid of it

Check out the Live Centre:
http://listen.to/sblive
You will find links to Midi and Soundfonts and there is a section devoted to using soundfonts with Cakewalk.
Browse around the site there is a lot there for Live users.

I HAVE FOUND THAT I NEED TO LOAD THE SOUND FONTS THROUGH THE SB LAUNCHER SF MANAGER,
AND THEN MANAGE THEM FROM THEM (RELOAD) THEM IN CAKEWALK. THIS WILL THEN WORK FOR YOU - CRAP EH!.
BECAUSE OF THIS PROB AND MORE WITH CAKEWALK , I CHANGED OVER TO CUBASE VST. tHE MIDI FACILITY IS BRILLIANT. i WRITE MUSIC MAINLY FOR TV ADVERTS AND YOU CAN'T GO WRONG.

YOU'LL FIND MANAGING SF BANKS ARE A DODDLE TO.

Please don't shout.

This forum is dedicated to NoteWorthy Software products, so I'm not sure how much Cakewalk help you can expect to get here.

What's a doddle?
