Title: Can a tie cross a change of time signature?

Subject explains it all! If I try to tie together two notes which have a change of time signature in between then the notes are tied to the time signature.

As an example notate 4 quarter notes in 4/4 time in measure 1. In measure 2 notate 4 eighth notes. Tie the last quarter note in measure 1 to the first eight note in measure 2. Insert 2/4 time at beginning of measure 2. Note how the tie curve(s) are shown. Looks funny but seems to play correctly timewise. The answer is YES in my opinion if you don't object to the way it looks on the screen or printout.
