Good day to you.
I ask for information. I need to number the verses of a song alternately (1. 3., 2. 4.). Using the user "Verse number", is it possible to do this? I've made a few attempts to no avail. The attached image should clearly explain what I intend to achieve. If the solution is not possible, I will use a text.
Here in upper Italy, snow and cold, Christmas time.
Thank you.
Lorenzo
I don't think so, but perhaps the plugin's author,
@Mike Shawaluk can help.
Easily done: In "Special text", enter the numbers (or even other text) you want to see
separated by spaces. See the attached example where I needed verse numbers 1., 3., and 6.
- I added "1 3 6" in "Special Text";
- I kept the dot in "Punctuation", so the numbers become 1., 3., and 6.
- The "Start Verse Number" entry is irrelevant in that case - even through I selected "5" there, this does not show up anywhere.
I hope that helps.
H.M.
It's just what I needed, done.
Thanks, HMMueller!

So, I've solved the alternating verse problem as pointed out by HMMueller.
However in the press, they appear:
1. the number of lines in each line
2. the number of verses even where there is no text
I put the complete nwc file and the pdf of the print.
I explain that the song is a dialogue between a female barber and a soldier who wants to have his beard trimmed.
Baritones and basses sing like soldier, tenors like female barber.
The 5th verse everyone sings.
Eh, with Google translator I don't know what will come out!!! :D
Thank you and happy Sunday to you.

Hey Lorenzo,
just did a test and changed the "Class" to Standard instead of StaffSig and it seemed to work.
At least I think I'm seeing what you want.
Bingo Lawrie!!! Thanks, I'm doing more tests now, but everything seems fine.
Why do I never think of these little solutions???
But if I always managed by myself I wouldn't have the pleasure of talking to you :).
A cordial greeting to you.
Lorenzo
PS: by the way I posted a rather confusing and messy nwc code, apologies.
The help text might not be very clear on this feature, but when Class is set to StaffSig, the verse numbers will automatically appear on subsequent staves. If Class is set to Standard, then the verse numbers will appear only once, at the location of the object. Also, if you want verse numbers on every staff in the start of your song, but then you want to discontinue them at some point (i.e. at the refrain), you can insert a new VerseNumbers.ms object and set its Visibility to Never.
One more thing I forgot to mention in the help text: if you are using Special Text and you want the verse number to contain a space (such as "1, 2."), just put an underscore (_) character in place of the space. The _ will be replaced by a space when the verse number is displayed/printed.
Thanks Mike. I'm not in the habit of reading "User" tool guides. The English language always hinders me... I will try to be more diligent.
Have a good evening.
Lorenzo
