Title: Fade IN & Fade OUT
Post by: ItmightbeJB on 2014-07-21 02:02 PM
I've just completed an arrangement of the Gounoud version of AVE MARIA.  As a relative novice I'm kind of proud of myself over this.  But my question is, on the last measure of the score I'd like to have all the staffs fade out.  I know the symbol (with the less than or greater than pointers) but I don't know what they are called and I've been unable to find it in v1.75c.  Any help?

Oh, and is there a way to share the file with you?  I'd love to get hints and feedback from some of you more accomplished songsmiths on here.

To fade it out, you will need to insert a Volume Multi-point Controller Command (http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/nwchelp/MNU_ADDMIDICONTROLLER.htm) to each MIDI channel that has a note playing.
Very likely, the last measure is a whole note with a fermata (http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/nwchelp/MNU_TEMPOVARIANCE.htm). You may need to account for any delay set in the fermata.

FAQ: Why use a multi-point controller (http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/nwc2/help/faq_multipt.htm) may help.
FAQ - Multi-point Controller (MPC) - volume, pitch bend, sweep (http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/composer/faq/38.htm) has a link to mpcex.nwc, a version 1.55 file from 1996 that contains examples.

The hairpins (the less than or greater than pointers) are not available in NWC 1.xx.
They are available only in v.2.xx.

In your case anyway those are just for printing.
To obtain the acoustic fade out you must follow Rick's advice.

To share your file with the other NWC users to have hints and feedbacks, the best place is the NoteWorthy Composer newsgroup.

In alternative you can access it at http://news.noteworthysoftware.com/ (http://news.noteworthysoftware.com/)

Separate note: I tried accessing the web portal to the newsgroup, and it prompts me for a username/password. I tried the ones I use on the forum and they doesn't seem to work. Is a separate registration required?

And to be honest, I thought I'd read somewhere that the newsgroup was being phased out in favor of the forums. Was I misinformed?

Yes, it's completely different from the one for the forum.
Of course, it's the same both accessing it via a newsreader or via http(s).
I can't help you more since I got it so many years ago and I forgot how I proceeded.

Well, no, not really.
The newsgroup is not very busy lately but it's still alive (thank you, Frits!).
And I think it still is the best place to discuss topics not strictly related to the tecnicalities of NWC.
