Title: Boxmarks don't work properly on my laptop computers
Post by: Allan on 2012-11-13 02:09 PM
My desktop computer (WinXP) was hit by a number of viruses and I was forced to use my laptops to continue working in NoteWorthy. Both of my laptops are ACERs, one with Win7, the other with WinXP. I was editing some songs created on my desktop, where I had to make changes to multiple rests using BOXMARKS, e.g. [9] to show 9 rests. While this command always worked properly on my desktop, it would not produce the correct symbol using either laptop. WHY? I have the boxmarks added to my font list. I haven't tried using any other boxmark symbols.

I have the boxmarks added to my font list.
You might try running charmap (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Character_Map) to see if windows agrees with you.

1. There are the older "BOXMARKS.TTF" and the newer "BOXMARK2.TTF",
which do you have on the system, which is the NWC file expecting?

2. Which version of NWC are you using?

3. NWC 2.5.5, in Page Setup > Fonts, will mark with "***"
typeface not found on system.

If your laptops do not run the user tool "kph_MultiBarRest_Boxmark.php",
it may be that the laptops are running a version of NWC which does not recognise "non-official" user tools.

For help with that problem, I posted a request for help to migrate user tools from NWC 2.1 to NWC 2.5.5, (2012-11-23).

Hi Allan,
have you tried using Charmap (Windows tool) as advised by Rick to make sure Windows thinks the font is actually installed?

I rather think this is an important first step...

You might take a look at the Multi-meaure Rest Command (http://ntworthy.com/nwc2/help/MNU_ADDMMREST.htm) to see if it meets your needs.
