Title: Staccato dot too close to stem
Post by: harry976 on 2012-10-10 11:27 AM
When notating staccatos on upper-stemmed notes, with USE STEM FOR ARTICULATIONS checked, the staccato dot is so close to the stem that it looks like they are connected.  I've tried expanding all the boundaries and every other thing I could think of.

Any thoughts?

Put each voice on a layer and set the StemLength
Code: (nwc) [Select · Download]
!NoteWorthyComposer(2.5)
|AddStaff|Name:"Staff"
|StaffProperties|EndingBar:Open (hidden)|WithNextStaff:Layer
|Chord|Dur:4th,Staccato|Pos:5|Opts:Stem=Up,ArticulationsOnStem|Dur2:Half|Pos2:0
|Note|Dur:4th,Staccato|Pos:2|Opts:Stem=Up,ArticulationsOnStem
|Bar
|Note|Dur:4th,Staccato|Pos:5|Opts:Stem=Up,StemLength=5,ArticulationsOnStem
|Note|Dur:4th,Staccato|Pos:2|Opts:Stem=Up,StemLength=5,ArticulationsOnStem
|Bar
|AddStaff|Name:"Staff-1"
|StaffProperties|EndingBar:Open (hidden)
|Rest|Dur:Half|Visibility:Never
|Bar
|Note|Dur:Half|Pos:0
|Bar
!NoteWorthyComposer-End
IMO, NWC could improve this. On-stem Staccato dots that are not near or contained in staff lines should be a fixed vertical distance from the stems.

Same for staccatissimo, only worse: on certain notes the triangle sign actually becomes part of the stem. On others it's OK, and on others it does not merge but it's still too close. Staccatos behave similarly.

LEON: When inserting nwctxt into a message, please highlight it and click on the hashtag ( # "Insert Code").  Someone wanting to see your example now only needs to click on Select before copying it to the clipboard and taking it to NWC.  Rick G has a number of examples in his posts.

TIA

Even better: use the "Insert Noteworthy Composer text clip" button, the one with the "2" at the left end of the row.

Code: (nwc) [Select · Download]

Warren, Flurmy: thanks, next time I'll do so.

If it's not too much to ask, can you please also tell me how to insert multiple staves as text? So far I got stuck at the stage of "copy special-all open staves" which does not paste here.
Thanks in advance
Leon
