Title: Exporting to midi
Post by: Sterghios Estaroth Moschos on 1998-12-02 05:00 AM
I tried SAVE AS... -> TYPE 1 MIDI FILE on a NWC file written in v1.52, finished in v1.55 and then tried playing it in WINAMP and in CAKEWALK 6.3. Unfortunately I was "unable to play file" as the most kind sun-of-a-you-know-what computer of mine informed me. I suspect this to be a glitch in NWC, though I cannot be 100% positive. If it is of any help I am using an 8mb soundfont on a AWE64Gold card to play mids - the rest of my mids play fine however...

Yes. There's a ... shall we say "anomaly" in the NWC1.55 build; the "Type 0" and "Type 1" legends are switched. So to export the usual Type 1 file, you actually have to either:

1) Specify "Type 0" in the export dialog, :-) or,

2) Use the "Save As..." dialog to save as Type 1 midi (but don't forget to change the file extension to .mid, or else your precious .nwc file -of-the-same-name- will be overwritten.) :-(

or,

3) Acquire version 1.55a, which corrects this "anomaly"
