Title: slurs
Post by: carolyn conyers on 1998-09-28 04:00 AM
It's great to have a simple way to add slurs. BUT - sometimes NWC puts the slur under the notes, rather than on top, thereby conflicting with lyrics or score directions. Is there any way to direct the slur to be on top (or on bottom, as the case may be)? Or is this another Wish List?

Change the stem direction of the first note, even if it
has no stem (whole note). This should work.

It's probably quite difficult to do, but it would be nice if slurs could slope diagonally as well. They can be a bit ugly if drawn horizontally over say a glissando.

To Olivier: Yes, the slur does change direction if one changes stems on the first note. However, this is not an acceptable workaround, if one is preparing a professional looking score and the stems are obviously wrong. I even tried changing the stems, placing the slur, then changing the stems back to correct alignment - hoping to fool NWC. Didn't work. The slur goes with the stem. So, I will add something to the Wish List about slur flexibility. Thanks for the reply. Perhaps it will work on some occasions.
