Title: Maximizing Active Screen
Post by: Gordon Isbell on 1998-09-18 04:00 AM
Well, I looked in the help files, the FAQ, and the User Tips, and if I've missed it, I'm sorry.
When I open a song file the screen is about 1/2 page, so I double click on the title bar to maximize it.
Is there a setting in NWC that will open the song file window in a maximized position? It's not too hard to double click, but would be handy if it opened maximized.
(Andrew, I listen to your version of Toreador regularly, and love it.)
Thanks,
Gordon

You cannot set a default for maximizing an editor window. However, if the current editor window is maximized, subsequent files that you open will also be initially maximized.

OK, here's what I do. I open NWC. Open a song, maximize it and work on it. Then I close it and open another song. The editor screen is back to 1/2 size. It does not stay maximized.
The only way it will stay maximized for an entire session is if I never closed a file...if I simply left them all open until the end of the session and then closed them one by one at that time.
Is this what you mean?

Gordon

I find that I rarely maximize the screen unless I am working on a large score, but even then I often only have 3 or 4 staves showing at once from page set-up. This helps with measure numbers, etc.

Hi NWC'ers,

I just added "save the current window sizing upon program exit" to the wish list -- I would like not only the "maximized" sizing to be remembered, but I would also like any size I make a window to be remembered the next time I want to open a song.

If you want maximized or other sizing options to be saved, please add your vote to the wishlist (which is easy to find, now! Thanx NWC Support). The more votes to the wishlist, the more likely we will get our wish granted...

Gordon, you don't have to switch from one excess to the other.
Simply keep 1 window open (I often keep one with standard schemes opened, to quickly copy+paste), and you can also quit with Alt+F4 : you'll be prompted for each file not saved.
