Title: phrasing and lyrics
Post by: snooker on 2010-07-05 11:12 AM
When I use the slur command to group notes in a phrase the lyric is altered so that the first syllable spans the whole phrase.
How do I avoid this happening?

Select the notes within the slur and go to their properties - then select the lyric syllable always option.

Many thanks Lawrie for your speedy response. I had tried to find the answer in the help file. It's strange how it's always clearer when answered in the Forum.

Notes express a melodic pattern. Each note is like a letter, putting the notes together makes a musical "word" So one note may represent just a small part of a lyrical phrase or the whole phrase itself.
