Is anyone familiar with Guitar Pro?  How do you like it compared with NWC?

I'm not familiar with guitar pro, but if it helps, NWC is primarily a music notation product.

You might want to search for guitar in the window in the upper right for places the instrument has been discussed here.  This (https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=7152.0) is a recent thread on creating guitar chords and you can also search here (http://nwc-scriptorium.org/dbmain.html#search) for an excellent NWC resource (Scriptorium).

As Lawrie said, NWC is used for music notation and it can handle guitar music.  Create a treble clef, press F2 and, under instrument, choose guitar and transpose down -12 and you're good to go.

While you can modify a treble clef to transpose down an octave, the "8" usually isn't shown like it would be for the tenor part in choral music for example.
