Title: Dot position
Post by: Flurmy on 2009-08-18 07:12 AM
I think the dot position in this snippet is horrible:
Code: [Select ยท Download]
|Chord|Dur:4th|Pos:-3o|Opts:Stem=Down|Dur2:Half,Dotted|Pos2:-3o,1o|Color:0|Visibility:Default

Of course, using layering...

G'day Flurmy,
even with layering where would you put the dot..?  That's not a nice one at all :)

Easy answer: simply put the dotted notes at the right (as in the original printed score) and the undotted at the left.

This:
Quote
|Chord|Dur:Half,Dotted|Pos:-3,1|Opts:Stem=Up|Dur2:Whole|Pos2:-3
Looks even worse, which is why we have layering.

The bigger problems are the bad dot postions that cannot be fixed by layering. At a minimum, we need to be able to hide ties. The option of specifing dot defaults at the staff level would work for me, but I doubt that it would satisfy other folks.
