Title: import instructions
Post by: pianopoet on 2008-10-04 08:36 PM
Hi, everyone, I'm new to NWC and am trying to make a piano cover of He's A Pirate from Pirates of the Carribean.  I got a midi of the piano section and wanted to use NWC to play the other parts (percussion, brass, etc.)--bear with me here-- so I have the mp3 file of He's a Pirate, converted it to WAV and then converted that to MIDI.  I have all the notes now (from the MIDI), but they're basically all piano.  Is there a tutorial about how I seperate them and set them to different instruments?

If you're using version 2, the Tools / User Tools starter kit includes ADP's Parts tool.  I  think that should work to separate the chords onto different staffs.  You'll have to do the instument settings yourself, but that's easy - F2 for staff properties, and select the instrument.

as luck would have it, I'm using version 1.75b.  Can you do still make that change with version 1.75 or do i have to upgrade?

The user tools only work with version 2 - you will have to upgrade.  If you have a version 1.75 CD it's a free upgrade.
See the NoteWorthy Site.

Thanks Rich and David, I'll upgrade once I find my CD in my mess here.  I really should make an image of it.

See if Chord Splitter works for you.  Go to the Scriptorium here http://nwc-scriptorium.org/helpful.html (http://nwc-scriptorium.org/helpful.html) to read about it and download it.
