Title: Forum speed...
Post by: Lawrie Pardy on 2007-08-13 06:54 AM
Is it my imagination, or does the forum seem to be slower since the recent upgrade...

Other services I access are OK but they are generally local (I.E. in Australia) so the slow down I'm seeing could simply be a trans-Pacific saturation issue...

Been fine for me. I've been using both DSL and cable. Cable for now, as 60mph winds sent a neighbor's tree across the phone company's trunk line.

It is technically possible that the current server configuration is a little slower since the upgrade. Our server is still running the same hardware, but with newer versions of most of the software packages. However, I have not seen a measurable slow down in any metrics.

The software upgrade was only the first step. We will be upgrading to new dual core hardware soon, so any perceived slow down should disappear when this is completed.

Thanks Eric, speed seems normal from home now, so I'll check again from the office when I get there in about half an hour.

If it's still slow from there I'll need to check whats going on, if it's back to normal then I'll put it down to a capacity problem yesterday when I noticed it.
