Title: No sound on playback
Post by: Steve Mattos on 2006-08-29 08:33 PM
Suddenly, unexpectedly, and inexplicably, I hear nothing when I play my NWC2 (and NWC) files.  However, I can play CDs, so the problem is not with the speakers.  Any suggestions?  (I did search the topic in the FAQs, but I didn't find anything that helped.)  Thanks.

The first thing I would check is my mixer settings to make sure the MIDI volume didn't get muted or lowered to zero somehow.  You really can't compare playing CD's with playing MIDI, since they are played differently on your sound card.  That's why there are separate controls in the mixer for CD, WAV, MIDI, Microphone, etc.

Also, you might want to check to see that you have the correct MIDI driver selected (from within NWC).

Hope that helps.

John,
That did it.  Thanks!  The volume for "SW Synth" was all the way down, although I certainly didn't put it there.
Thank you very much!

Steve

Glad to help.  Sometimes, other software makes volume changes for you without you knowing it.  Don't know why, but it happens.  I'm glad it's all sorted out now.
