Title: Transposition
Post by: Daniel Pancer on 1997-02-21 05:00 AM
I am currently arranging a pachelbel canon duet for two violins. I was wondering how I could go about transposing one of the parts so that It can be a duet for clarinet and violin. I never understood how to transpose for b flat instruments so the harmony works... Thanks you in advance for you help.

Copy the part you wish to transpose to a new staff. Transpose that staff up 2 half steps using transpose in Tools. Proof read for proper accidentals in the new key.

If I am transposing from D major what is the new key if I go up two half steps for clarinet?

The new key would be E. You might consider transposing up 3 half steps for clarinet in A, yielding a part in F for an A-clarinet.

Where can you obtain the first violin sheet for Canon in D?
