Title: Irritation
Post by: Josh Brown on 1998-06-14 04:00 AM
Is there anybody that is annoyed about some of the changes in Noteworthy Composer 1.51a?
I found the square that encircles the selected track to be very intrusive since it gets in the way of the notes you want to put in.

Then why don't you switch it off ?
Go to Tools Options Editor and then uncheck the Active Staff frame box.

No more frame - No more annoyance !

Yes. Turning off the frame was the first thing I did in 1.51a!

Geez. I use the program every day, and I didn't know that! I might play around with the options a bit more and see what other great things it can do :-)

I found the frame useful to show if your notes are outside
the "reserved" space for the staff. If you find it clashes
with notes, you should probably increase the vertical size
of the staff. The box also lets you know if you can reduce
the vertical size without crashing into other staves, but
without the need for trial and error.

Yes, the bax can help much to know whether you have to increase the up/down height. Use Ctrl-Right and you'll scroll quickly through all the length of the score, and now the box helps you to see if notes are too far easier.
But there are cases in which it is annoying.
Sometimes I dream that I can just change the height of the staff by draggin the box line...

Maybe the box was created in anticipation of something like this in the future... :)
