Title: Connecting a MD-992 to PC.
Post by: Kyle on 2006-01-04 10:22 PM
I've looked thru a while list of posts about connecting a midi keyboard to your pc, but i still cant seem to get is to work.

Yet i think i know what the problem is, im connecting the Midi Cable on the Keyboard to Out, and it has an adapter on the other side of the cable which allows me to plug it in to a PS/2 (mouse and keyboard) Port, does this work, or am i going to have to find another cable?

Please help me!...

G'day Kyle,
I think you'll find that is the wrong cable.

Normally on a PC, the MIDI port is an adaption to the game port that requires a conversion cable - Check https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=5233, especially https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=5233.msg33569#msg33569 there's a link there to a circuit diagram that will allow you to make your own, or you could always check out some of the local electronics shops...

Yes, the problem is that older keyboards used a plug that looks the same as a Midi port, but they're totally different.
