Title: Keeping track in orchestra score
Post by: Billp2000 on 2005-10-18 12:38 AM
I have used "text expression" to lable each staff in my orchestral score, but after entering about 8 measures, those labels disappear (of course).  I also entered the instrument name in Staff Properties.  But after working into the piece, how can I look at my 16 staves and know which instrument is which.

G'day Bill,
as you move from staff to staff (<pg-up>, <pg-dn>) the status line at the bottom displays the staff name at its right  end.

Please note that the NWC window must be active for it to display.

Yeah... and I've been hitting F2 for years, to see the name. While it was there, right under my nose, but lurking in the corner!

Funny you should say that, Rob.  Today at work, one of my staff showed me a trick in Excel that I had no idea existed - but I've been using Excel extensively for many years.
