When you write for people that play violin the want to know if
they shall start with moving the bow up or down.

How do you write that?

If you have the Boxmarks 2 font on your system, you can use the letter 't' for the upbown sign, and the letter 'u' for the downbow sign.

To download Boxmarks 2, go to the Scriptorium here: http://nwc-scriptorium.org/helpful.html#Fonts

While in NWC 2, go to Page Setup and click on the Fonts tab. Usually I double-click "User 1" and set Boxmarks 2 as the font, with a font size of 16. Click ok after setting up the font the way you want it to look. Click on the staff that you want to put the up or down bow sign into and press 'X'. In the 'Display Font' drop-down box, select 'User 1- Boxmarks'. In the 'Expression' box, type the letter 't' if you wish to use the upbow sign, or 'u' if you wish to use the downbow sign. Click ok, and the sign that you entered should appear.

HTH,

Daniel
