I am using Noteworthy Composer V1.75b to write out barbershop arrangements with lyrics. In some cases, the lyrics are split between parts. I have found that if there is a long word in the lyrics between clefs, the note spacing is not widened to make room for the longer word;
In barbershop any part could have a lyric line or a one word pickup.
How can the space between notes be increased to allow for longer lyric words.
Thank you for any advice.

G'day Don,
Unless Noteworthy Online has a better approach...
I occasionally find I need to pad bars to allow space for "something". What I do in insert text (several spaces) with preserve width turned on.
One of the things I use this for is when I use comping slashes for an entire bar.
I.E. | / (hidden 8th rest) /(hidden 8th rest) /(hidden 8th rest) /(hidden 8th rest) (3 spaces as text) |
Gives this: | / / / / |
instead of this: | / / / /|
Perhaps a similar technique can help?
Lawrie
Or use extra underscores (connected to the lyric-syllables you want to lengthen - do not use spaces) to create more space?
The text referred to by Don uses Text Expressions. If the lyric feature is used for this text, it will be fitted to the notes, and NWC will add extra space as needed.
We sent Don an example.
