Hi Stephanie,

Most "better" sound cards will come with a wave editor, you can record to wav while playing back via NWC.  The resultant file can then be converted to mp3 later.  It may be that the recorder software can save as mp3 directly too.

Just depends on what software you have or can get...

Stephanie,
If you want it as background music on a web page, save the file as Midi, and use that file instead.
Something like
<embed src="LovelySong.mid" autostart="true" loop="true" hidden="true" />

Or loop="false", that depends on how lovely the song really is.

I use a shareware program called:

MIDI2WAV Recorder (http://www.midi2wav.com)

It can also convert to MP3 although I don't use that feature since I need the WAV format to make CDs.

I set up my device so the "performance" has enough effects (Hall1, reverb, chorus, etc) and the final recording sounds great.

I want to replace my SC-8850 with a Fantom-XR one of these days, however, some people that listen to the CD don't realize that the music was computer generated.
