nwc1 clipboard uses binary format, not plain text

What is your question?

Wasn't a question, but was a valuable point. The NWC2 clipboard format is designed to be human-readable and editable as plain text. This allows it to be manipulated by any programming language that can esily manipulate plain text - and such a feature is indeed an add-on to NWC2. But the NWC1 clipboard format was not designed for that purpose (and, of course, is unlikely to be changed!).

user111 makes good observations, from time to time.

But this one falls into the golden oldies category.

The point, I believe, is that even though NWC2 can open NWC files, clipboard from NWC1 cannot be sent by e-mail as plain text to a remote user of NWC2. Not everybody has web access other than plain-text e-mail.

But that's the way it is.

All the more reason to upgrade, methinks.
