Title: Wheel mouse feature
Post by: Lindsay on 2004-07-30 12:16 AM
Has anyone else been able to use the wheel mouse to scroll vertically in the score like the new features list says is possible?  There doesn't seem to be a setting to change in order for this to work.  I was really excited to see that feature as it would make browsing through a piece much easier.

By the way, NWC2 is great!  I've used NWC1 since high school and was thrilled to see all the added features.

AFAIK. The wheel works vertically so long as all the staves are visible - like piano - but with many staves falling below the screen page, it only works horizontally.

(Unless someone else knows differently)

OOOPs Sorry. It doesn't work in V2. It does in v1 though.
A bug?

Mine works fine in V2, although I've never actually used it.

And clicking the wheel brings up a hybrid Staff/Options menu which was a bit unexpected!

NWC1 does not contain any built-in support for a mouse wheel. Many mouse wheels include drivers that convert mouse wheel actions into scroll messages, so you might have it working for you in NWC1, but not natively as a part of the program.

NWC2 responds to a mouse wheel when the current edit view includes a vertical scroll bar. It will scroll up or down as you roll the wheel.

If you experience something different, please describe the behaviour.

When you don't have a vertical scroll bar the selected staff quivers like a jelly!

I think I'm getting me verticals and horizontals mixed up <g>
In both v1 & 2 I can scroll up and down through all the staves. In V1 I can scroll left and right so long as there are no staves below (or above) the screen. I cannot do that in V2.
I'm using M$ trackball explorer mouse.

Whoa, whoa.

I'm getting my verticals and horizontals crossed!  For some reason I was thinking vertical was the other way...
I was thinking (and hoping) it worked left to right, but alas it does not and apparently isn't supposed to.  It scrolls up and down just fine.
Sorry about that!

My experience is that the movement is horizontal, on the
same stave only. No vertical scrolling. and i just thought
about it now, what will happen if the start/end of the
stave is reached, will it move up or down? i'll find out.
