Title: Sound Fonts
Post by: AndzonoTheGreat on 2004-07-28 02:48 AM
NWC2 should most certainly be compatible with sound fonts...
now THAT would be sweet!

Noteworthy Composer is compatible with MIDI. It is your MIDI device which will (or will not) use sound fonts. If your MIDI device WILL use them, and you play NWC files through it, you'll get the full effect.

Some programs are compatible even without a good "MIDI Device" like Synthfont
I wish NWC were like that

Good wish, but... I believe it is NWC's strategy to focus on the most essential features, and keep the program small and reliable, rather than incorporate "audio" features found elsewhere.

See https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=2337 on how to access Sounfonts from NWC, given that your audio device sopports them.

Since Synthfont already has that capability, it would probably be easier to request it's creators for it to be as available as a midi device.  Then all windows programs with midi playback including Noteworthy could gain that functionality.

Sound fonts are working great in NWC.
I have use Win98SE with a SB Live 5.1 card.
The drivers are not SB but the KX ones. I have installed the Merlin GM sound font 28.7Mb and there was no special installation required for NWC to pick it up.
The KX drivers are free too and unlike the SB ones do not commandere other software.
