Post by: donarno on 2004-07-19 02:38 AM
Is there a program to convert nwc to scorch file or such an application for Mac users ?

in my choir many people have Mac and they cannot see the works in nwc.

I'd suggest saving the NWC file as MIDI, and then importing to Scorch. That's assuming that Scorch does such a thing.

I want of course to avoid retyping the lyrics, because it's most of our work to sing music and lyrics.

I can with many softs save in midi but it's the last option

I don't know anything about Scorch (I don't have a Mac, only a PC), but I do know that a MIDI export from NWC does contain the lyrics.  I use that feature to export melody lines from NWC to Band-In-A-Box, which results in the notes for the melody and the lyrics associated with them.  It's not always perfect, depending upon how I formatted the source, but it generally works.  I usually have to do a few minutes of cleanup, but it beats retyping the lyrics.

You might just want to try and see if Scorch picks up the lyric events in the MIDI file.

John

thanks for the informations, I'll try it today to check if scorch is as compatible as band in a box.

Remember that there is always the old fashioned "copy/paste" from the lyrics edit screen if all else fails.
