Title: tie situation across special endings
Post by: conrad on 2004-07-13 08:23 AM
Hi all,

I've searched the forum for tie related posts, but haven't found one that addresses my situation. In a piece of music I'm transposing, I have a 5 note chord in a To Coda measure tied to a 5 note chord in the next. Works like a charm. In the Coda measure, however, the aforementioned chord only has 4 of the notes, which is strange already. Thus those four receive the tie with no problem, but now there is a tie searching for its note and that's making a large tie across several measures. Is there any workaround to this? If not, I'd like to put a wish on the wish list: the "smart" tie over special endings.

Thanks

If you are not going to officially terminate a tied note in one of the endings, your best bet is to use a hidden grace note at that note position to receive, and thus terminate, the tie.
