Post by: RICHARD BELIVEAU on 2004-07-02 04:30 PM
I LOVE IT EXCEPT FOR THE DOUBLE DOTTED NOTE BY THE DOUBLE HIT ON THE NUMERIC KEYBOARD. IT IS NOT USED OFTEN ENOUGH TO BE THERE AND MESSES UP MY MEASURE TIMING

You can move/remove the double dot from the toolbar, which will then make the period on your keyboard toggle only the dot attribute.

How would you then notate a double-dotted note? My suggestion is to use a different keyboard char (say colon, or whatever is found suitable) to represent the double-dot notation, since single-dot notation is represented by the period key.
Leave the toolbar as is, for user convenience.

Thanks!

To answer your question, you could always select double-dot from the menu (select "Notes, Double dot").  That way, (at least for now) you could use the period to toggle the dot on and off, but in the odd chance that you need the double-dot, just select it from the menu.

Hi John,
I knew that. 3 ways to usually perform a task: (1) from
the Menu, (2) from the toolbar, and (3) from the keyboard.
What Richard mentioned is that using the period key to
perform both single-dot and double-dot notation is a bit
messy; I find this true for me, too. So what I'm trying to
say is, leave the Menu and toolbar setting for the
double-dot notation, and assign another key (e.g., colon).
{i'm a DOS-oriented person, and that means i usually use
the keyboard when working with computers...}
Thanks!

I've moved the Note Double-Dot away from Note Dot to just after Notehead: Blank Space. This leaves it on the toolbar, and still allows me to toggle only the dot attribute with the keyboard.
