Title: Ho do I unzip a zip file?
Post by: dan goorevitch on 2004-04-04 08:17 PM
I downloaded "nwctip_msrnums", a .zip file for layering bar numbers for every measure. Does anyone know how I get the two .nwc files out of the envelope?

(1) Your computer might already have an unzipper built in. What happens if you double-click the file?

(2) There are many unzip programs available for download. Some of them are free. The one most commonly recommended is NOT free - but a lot of people take advantage of the free trial period, then never pay. Rather than do that, I suggest you find a genuinely free unzip program.

(3) Try "7zip" which is a recent, free unzip program from
http://sourceforge.net
Search for "7zip" and download the most recent Windows executable file (not source code). The Sourceforge web site is designed for programmers, so finding a file may be intimidating to a newbie.

Actually, there's a 7zip web page (I didn't know that, earlier). Here it is, all ya gotta do is download:

If you do not have built-in unzip capability, WinZip (http://www.winzip.com) is an easy program for using ZIP files.

I tried WinZip - didn't like it.
I use FreeZip (don't remember where I found it...).
