When ever i play a midi or nwc on nwc it frekin restarts within a min or 30secs/it's random. Very Annoying, does anyone know what to do???
There have been a couple of other reports similar to this this year, but nothing has changed in NWC that would cause such a thing. In all probability, this is some kind of hardware driver issue, or some other misbehaving low level software on the system.
Some ideas:
- If you post your hardware details, this gives a basis for comparison for others with the problem.
- Are there any logs in Performance Logs and Alerts that give insight as to the cause of the problem? In Windows XP, click on My Computer and select Manage to see this area.
- Did the problem start recently? If so, what has changed on your system?
- Does other software have the same problem on this system? Does our NoteWorthy Player program have the same problem?
yeah,..it must of been some irq problem or something cause all i did was change pci card slots and it works fine! course it took me almost a year probably to figure that out..and hopefully this keeps working, cause once for some reason it was working then it started restarting again out of no where,...but i'm convinced it'll work forever now!
O.K...nm it started doing it again, very odd. I think my sound card is messed up or something...
Check message 3921 "computer powers off" just a little lower on the list. Eric (NWC) suggested a cooling problem there and that turned out to be the problem with a very similar (if not the same) problem I had. Check your cooling fans, especially the one on the (large) CPU chip! Mine was turning, but was almost clogged up with dirt. Just carefully cleaning it (do not remove it!) did the trick. If your music file plays o.k. when you turn off the chasing notes feature in NWC,it's very likely that the CPU chip is not cooled properly.

Um yea, it has to be one of the stupid windows updates cause i just installed some of those and it started restarting again. I recently formatted my hardrive and it worked after that, so i put some of those updates in and boom started messin up again and restarting out of nowhere. So i just have to uninstall some of those and it should work fine again. :) has anyone had this problem cause it's the windows updates, if anyone has had this problem let me know specifically wich update it is. i'll probably just delete a group of them to make it work again.

[edited] man, i thought by installing just some windows updates that it would let me run nwc,...but i didn't, that means that you cannot install one windows update in order to let nwc work with no problems in this case.omg this is pissin me off cause now i have to reformat my hardrive for the millionth time again to fix it.

If Windows update caused a problem for you, it is likely a driver problem. Did you install one or more driver updates?
We have several computers here that have every critical Windows update, and they all work fine. NWC runs fine on all of them.
Yea, it most likely is a driver problem, but i'm not about to take my computer apart because of that...i'm just not installing any windows updates...

Gosh! I have NEVER EVER had a driver update via Windows Update. I've always got to go and search far and wide for the beggars, which is a right royal pain. Maybe the feature is simply unavailable for 98SE.
well i think i still have the problem...i think it's my hardrive...or something..i'm gonna deal with it later cause i'm tired of it. my specs anywaz: winxp pro, amd 2000+, 512 ddr, via chipset, what not -greg
