Title: re: real time entry

Are there any tricks for recording in "real time" from a midi keyboard and having the notes appear with the correct time values...
I keep geting all these 32nd notes and slurs and ties instead of a nice half note or whole note, etc...
Thanks for any suggestions.

I am only guessing, but I wonder if it would help to play everything slowly - at say 1/4 the ultimate tempo.  It may be easier to achieve the relative duration of each note if everything's slow.  You can always adjust the tempo with a new metronome marking that you add later.

I think what Divid is trying to say, is that the numerous off-beat notes are actually what you are playing. That's not necessarily a bad thing, if you are a good pinao stylist. But if you are trying to "play sheet music" and get the notes exact, it is difficult to do in real time recording.
