Title: Midi Synchronization
Post by: Michael Hammond on 2003-12-26 07:21 PM
Help! I'm trying to play a piano piece using a standard 4/4 template. I try to hit the keys on the first note, but it consistently comes in a 1/16 note late, adding rests that I don't want. Any ideas? Can the sensitivity be reduced to 1/8 notes instead of 1/16?

Okay, I found the Note & rest resolution under Options/Import, and that helped the problem by setting note resolution to a 1/4 note. I guess I will just have to play with it some more. If anyone else has any ideas I would love to hear them!

I gather that you're inputting directly from a midi keyboard.  You could try slowing the music way down to improve input accuracy, then adjust the metronome marking later.

You can change the Options/Import if you want to use a different default all of the time. However, if you just want to use different import setting for your most recent recorded session, you can use Staff, Import Recording to redo the most recent import with new settings more appropriate for what you just played. You can repeat this process until you find the best result for what you played.
