Title: Patch Cache? Failed?
Post by: swedishbricks on 2003-12-16 09:53 PM
I just got an older Montego I card (Dell OEM) up on Windows NT 4. Whenever I attempt to play a file now, I get this message: "An attempt to cache patches failed" in a box titled: "Patch Cache".

All is not lost, however, as the file plays fine.

The big "Q" is, how do I get this box to go away? I didn't get this error message with the integrated Crystal card.

Anybody??

This message is displayed when the MIDI device indicates that it needs to cache instrument patches in order to successfully play back, but then fails to accept the patch cache instruction. In other words, it indicates a fault with your sound card MIDI driver.

You can work around this fault by using the MIDI Mapper for play back, which does not issue this error message.

Very good. I switched to the MIDI Mapper and no more error.

Thank you,
