Title: Soundblaster Live! drums
Post by: Berg on 2003-09-02 12:56 AM
greetings:
I bought and installed SoundBlaster Live! Creative, and when I started composing with NWC, (I bought/installed the full version, just for the sake of saying so) I realized the vocal instrument, timpani, and drum kit were all very limited; the vocals sound very fake, timpani sounds too light, and the drum kit has only one kit, instead of the many that are associated with most sound cards (metallic kit[acoustic guitar(steel)], standard drum kit [Acoustic Grand Piano], studio drum kit [Hammond Organ]), and I was quite disappointed with the sound card at that point of realization; did I make the right choice in buying/installing the card? or, can I change the quality of those instruments?
help would be much appreciated--

whoops--
also, if it IS possible to fix the instruments, how would I go about doing so?
thanks!

It is a pretty good card (especially considering it's price) Berg. What you need to do is experiment with downloading and installing soundfonts. There has been a lot of discussion about sountfonts in this forum. Check the threads. Good luck, Barry.

My version has several drum kits - you need to set the instrument on the staff to access them.
