Title: Installing sound font
Post by: Tony on 2003-08-05 08:47 AM
I have a Creative SB PCI 128 sound card in my system.
I have just downloaded a Jeux d'Orgues sound font.  OK so far, but how do I get to use the new sound font? NWC doesn't recognise it yet.

Sorry to inform you, Tony, but the Creative PCI cards (64, 128) do not support sf2 type soundfonts. "Jeux" is one of these soundfonts.

You will have to replace your card with the "SB Live" or similar card which has soundfont support.

As an alternative, you may like to investigate software synthesis programmes such as Timidity or Audio Compositor. These require the NWC file to be saved as a MIDI file first, so they won't play directly in NWC.

Soundfont recognition is not a function of NWC. This has to be done via the soundcard and your computer's multimedia settings.

You could try using SynthFont to play your file exported as a midi file.
