Title: Musical Equations?
Post by: MathMatt on 2003-05-13 12:03 AM
I heard once that someone devised a mathematical way of composing music. Is there a simple equation u can just post on a reply? or is it in a website?
thank u!

Google is your friend.
Fractal music (http://www.google.com/search?q=fractal+music&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0),
Aleatoric music (http://www.google.com/search?q=aleatoric+music&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0),
Mathematical music (http://www.google.com/search?q=mathematical+music&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0&start=0).

But in my opinion, none of this is truly music until a human composer works with it.

Have fun!

...maybe those monkeys should have been given a piano keyboard, instead of an alphanumeric keyboard?

(If you haven't been following current events, you won't know what I mean.)

Well, technically and scientifically speaking, it IS monkeys that use piano keyboards most of the time...
