Title: Classical sheet music for keyboard
Post by: Michal on 2003-05-03 07:55 AM
When converting a MIDI file into NWC, I mostly get a complicated result: several melodic lines (and sometimes also a score, that could be played easier). I know it's not NWC's fault.

I need a clean score for *one* instrument only (keyboard/piano).

Each staff complement one another, so I can't delete anything when I have for example staffs for piano, flute, guitar etc.

Does someone know how to solve this problem? When can I find NWC files optimized for keyboard/piano (with no other instruments)?

Thank you in advance.

Use the search engine google.com to search for "midi files"

Follow the links, listen to what you find, then download the ones that sound like they're just a piano playing.

Open them in NWC - delete the staffs you don't want, clean up the notation where, for instance, triplets are shown as a mess of small notes, ties and rests.

Alternatively, if the music you've opened in NWC has several melodic lines, create a new piano part at the bottom of the screen.  Copy the original piano line into that staff, and after transposing those parts of the other instrumental staffs where necessary, just copy them in to the new piano lines too.

Thank you very much. Do you have any NWC files that I might find useful? If yes, please send them to xsilon@tlen.pl

Sorry, I don't have any NWC files that would lend themselves to piano alone.  Check out Warren Trachtman's site

http://www.trachtman.org/ragtime/

for tons of midi files that you can download and open in NWC.

Also go to his page

http://www.trachtman.org/ragtime/musicbooks.htm

where he has some ragtime piano scores that are in the public domain that you can print.
