Title: 4 horns with orchestra staves
Post by: Chuckk on 2003-03-17 08:50 AM
Hi... I'm using orchestral staves, and layering in standard staves between sections so the barlines won't run the entire page.  Unfortunately, I am showing 4 horns on two staves, and there are sections where 1 and 3 play and 2 and 4 rest and vice versa, meaning each horn is on a different staff.

With all horn staves set to orchestral, the second staff, after layering, has lines going down, due to the 3rd staff wanting to reach down to the 4th.  With 1 & 4 set standard and 2 & 3 orchestral, the second staff reaches up, but the top staff doesn't reach down till the end.  With 1,2,3 orchestral and 4 standard, 2 reaches up towards one, and after layering the top staff reaches up.  Etc.

Any solutions?

Duhhh.

Solution: made the barlines of the 2nd horn staff invisible, with 1, 2, and 3 set as orchestral.

Glad to see you have a solution.  See if my idea here works as well?

My idea:
set staffs 1 and 2 to upper grand staff, and staffs 3 and 4 to lower grand staff?
