Title: Sound Font Confusion
Post by: Michael Rey on 2003-02-04 11:29 AM
I am SSSSOOOOOO confused!!!!
I have the General user sound font set downloaded into my new SB Audigy II Platinum.
I need Castanets...and my sound font manager says it is in bank 008 instrument #115
I have tried a hundred different ways to set the controllers but I get everything BUT the Castanets.  One of my problems is that the numbering system makes absolutely no sense at all to me.  How do I assign that Castanet sound font to the staff?

Have you tried switching to MIDI channel 10? (Staff Properties | MIDI) I'm also using GUGS with SB Live! and I'm implementing Castanets all the time.

Yes, I have tried channel 10.
Now that I have been tinkering, I have lost all control over the font bank all together!  Now my other sequences are all screwed up!  My percussion line in one, which is supposed to be a drum kit is playing a triangle, and no matter how I set the staff properties, nothing changes it.  Does anyone out there have a SB Audigy2 and can you shed some light on how this sound font addressing works!
(BTW:-I am sure you are all not surprised to learn that Creative Customer support is a load of caca and their PDF manual and online FAQ, etc. are utterly worthless!

Nope doesn't suprise me. I bought a SB Audigy about 1 month before SB Adigy 2 came out... installed it... went to control panel and lo and behold got Blue screen of death. In windows 2000!!! I have it working now but will never buy a creative product again. (or an Elsa for that matter).
