Title: An importing problem
Post by: Nixon Roberts on 2003-02-01 01:35 PM
Hello,

When I import my midi files I always have to go through each track and ensure that the third beat of the bar isn't inside a note.

Like in 4/4 (where M=minim, C=crochet, and Q=quaver)
a bar that has:

C M Q Q

Or some such.  I find this really wrong that the 3rd beat is hidden.  Could this be fixed?  Or an option to forbid this?  (I find musicians don't like the problem at all)

Thanks!
Nix

This should work:

Change time signature to 2/4.
Audit bar lines.
Change time signature back to 4/4
Audit bar lines.

C M Q Q isn't so bad.
What I can't stand is Q Q dotted M Q Q Q, or M dotted M dotted M.  Those can be annoying.
Fred's suggestion is a pretty good idea - think I'll try that myself.

Also does not import triplets, in a 2/4 or 4/4
time.

Doesn't import triplets, full stop! My main moan about NWC.
